Car shampoo – which is the best for your car?

Car shampoo – which one will be the best and what features should it have?
We can wash the car in many ways. One of the most effective methods is to use car shampoo. Why is it worth using and how to clean your vehicle with it?
What is car shampoo used for?
Washing your car regularly will make its paint retain its appearance longer. Cleaning and protecting the bodywork will also help us avoid expenses related to corrosion.
Car shampoo is a cleaning preparation that we can use regularly. It is safe for the bodywork. We don't have to worry that the varnish will start to fade because of it. Moreover, it is easy to apply. With its help, we can clean the car ourselves at any time of the year.
Why is it worth buying car shampoo?
We can wash the car in many different ways. An automatic car wash will allow us to wash away dirt quickly and effortlessly. The problem is that this type of washing may not be thorough. Moreover, if the brushes are not fresh, they may even scratch the paint.
Another option is a touchless car wash. Using a pressure lance, we can clean the body more thoroughly, including in hard-to-reach places, e.g. under the wheel arches.
Touchless car wash is also not without its disadvantages. Improper use of a pressure washer may damage the paintwork. Moreover, we have no influence on what car chemicals will be used at a given car wash. We write more about this topic in the article Touchless car washes – advantages and disadvantages.
The solution is to combine the use of a touchless car wash with manual washing. We can use the lance to initially rinse the dirt and then use car shampoo. This way we will get the best effect. The car will be washed thoroughly and using a proven preparation.
Let's also remember that we cannot wet wash the car anywhere, e.g. in front of a block of flats. This can result in a fine of up to PLN 500, that's why touchless car wash will be a suitable location for vehicle care even if we wash the vehicle with our own car shampoo.
Do not replace car shampoo with household cleaning products. Using e.g. dishwashing liquid may cause the paint to fade. Car shampoo has a composition that allows you to get rid of typical road dirt, including asphalt residues and insects. Additionally, it protects the paint coating.
What types of car shampoos are there and which one to choose?
Car shampoos can be divided into two main types. The first one is a wax-free preparation. It allows you to thoroughly clean the body of dirt and deposits. It will be useful both in summer, when we need to remove insects from the bodywork, and in winter, when road salt sticks to the bodywork.
When to choose car shampoo without wax? It is best when we have more time for washing and, in addition to this preparation, we also want to use other paint care products. For example, we can first wash the body with car shampoo, and then start claying or waxing the body using a separate preparation.
Car shampoo with wax is a combination of two products. It will be a good solution if we want to save time. This type of shampoo will allow us to clean, shine and protect the paint in one session. We write more in the article about when to use the preparation and in what situation How and with what to wash the car?.
How to wash your car with car shampoo?
When washing your vehicle with car shampoo, you should start by getting rid of larger and loose dirt. To do this, wash the body thoroughly with clean water. We can use a pressure lance at a touchless car wash for this purpose.
We rinse the car from top to bottom. We make sure that there is no sand, gravel or particles on the body that may scratch the paint during washing.
The next step is to prepare the car shampoo for use. We follow the instructions. Shake the bottle to mix the preparation well. Then mix the shampoo in a bucket with clean water in the proportions given on the packaging. Too little of the agent may make cleaning ineffective. However, adding too much shampoo may lead to streaks.
Soak a soft sponge in the mixture. With its help, we start washing. We start from the roof and move to lower parts of the body. When washing with car shampoo, use circular movements. We will need a separate bucket for rinsing the sponge. Let's check regularly whether there are any particles of sand in it.
After washing the body, rinse the body with clean water, again starting from the roof. We make sure we get all the shampoo out of the car. Finally, wipe the body dry, e.g. with a microfiber cloth. Thanks to this action, there will be no streaks on the paint. Remember to get rid of water from gaps and bends, e.g. sills, bottom of doors, edge of the trunk, etc.
Recommended car shampoos
Which car shampoo should you choose? A lot depends on how much time we have at our disposal and whether we want to use other products while washing body cosmetics.
If we intend to use polishing or waxing products separately, we can choose car shampoo without wax. It works well, for example, in a touchless car wash as a basic cleaning agent for the bodywork, especially when it is heavily dirty.
This will be a quick and convenient way to restore the shine of the paint car shampoo with wax. Thanks to it, we will combine the process of cleaning the bodywork and applying a protective layer.
It is also worth remembering that we cannot wash the car properly without good accessories. Instead of using a regular sponge to wash dishes, it will be better to opt for one butterfly car sponge. Thanks to its ergonomic shape, it fits well in your hand when applying shampoo. Due to the fact that these types of products are designed for bodywork cosmetics, the softness is selected so that there is no risk of scratching the paint.
