Individual license plates – how much do they cost and what are the rules for selecting them?

Personalizing your vehicle does not have to mean changing the color of the body or decorating it with colorful stickers. An easier way is to have your own license plate. There are general but strict rules that must be followed for all license plates. However, it is possible to design your own, of course paying attention to all legal requirements and conditions. Such a car will certainly attract the attention of other drivers and road users. You can be sure that you will never confuse it with any other. How are individual boards designed and created?

Actually individual license plates can be ordered in virtually any circumstances. It is possible to perform it when purchasing a new car and registering it for the first time, when re-registering the vehicle, or changing the address, which is related to moving to another poviat. However, there are several limitations regarding the content on the boards. You cannot freely choose letters and numbers, although we have some freedom in this matter. Individual license plates they are therefore dedicated to anyone who wants to personalize their car at every stage of its ownership. The condition is to comply with applicable regulations and rules.
Limitations and basic rules
The first two characters on the board always indicate the voivodeship and we cannot change them. The rest of the content is your creativity, although also in this case not every inscription will be accepted. Individual license plates may not contain offensive words or profanity. Therefore, when determining the content, you should consider what will be included in your new personalized board. The first two characters are the letter assigned to the voivodeship, i.e. for Masovian Voivodeship W, Lesser Poland K, and Łódź E. The second character is a number from 0 to 9. This will certainly not be missing on any license plate, including individual ones.
Your own license plate and your content
Your individual inscription will appear after the letter representing the voivodeship and one of the numbers from 0 to 9. It must consist of 3-5 characters. However, we do not use Polish characters, but the last two positions can be filled in with numbers. Typically, these signs form a specific inscription with easy-to-interpret content. Custom license plates most often they contain the name or nickname of the owner or are his initials. There are cases when the content is an abbreviation that only the vehicle owner can interpret. An interesting technique for creating content for a license plate is to combine the voivodeship markings with other signs. For example, the inscription D0 MINIK may be created.
How much does a license plate cost to order?
As in any other case, we register the vehicle at the Transport Department in accordance with our place of residence. We must complete and submit the appropriate application, attaching the documents required by the office. Individual license plates they are more expensive than ordinary boards. You have to take into account the cost of approximately PLN 1100. If individual boards apply to a motorcycle, this amount will be halved. We wait for them for about one month. During this time, it is necessary to obtain temporary plates, for which you also have to pay. It will cost you PLN 62 for a car and PLN 37,50 for a motorcycle.
We fasten it individual license plates
Each license plate must be attached solidly and permanently. This will allow you to reduce the risk of it falling off while riding. It should be placed next to the bumper, directly on its surface or using it mounting frame. The second option turns out to be more advantageous because, thanks to the frame, it is a less invasive method. We do not drill 4 holes in the bumper, but attach the frame using screws. Then we place ours in it individual boards. The frame can be used both at the front and at the rear of the vehicle. There are several variants to choose from, including black, matt silver, chrome and with inscriptions.
