Since the beginning of 2018, we have received information about changes for beginner drivers. The assumptions showed that they were to enter into force on June 4 this year. However, this did not happen and the new rules are not yet in force. Those wanting to get a driving license decided to take the course and take the exam earlier to avoid difficulties and more responsibilities. As it turned out, they didn't have to be in such a hurry...
Constantly changing regulations, newly emerging information regarding changes, contradictory messages. All this means that we often have problems with their correct interpretation. In particular, if we are still "fresh" drivers, we are taking or planning a driving course. From the beginning of June, it was supposed to be more difficult for new drivers, which was a great motivation for young people to start the course earlier and thus pass the exam before June 4. The regulations are ready, but not yet in force. This is due to the delay in implementing the system CEPiK 2.0. Ministry of Digitization. We do not know the exact date when the new regulations will come into force, but we know what novice drivers must prepare for.
Trial period and refresher course
A person receiving a category B driving license after the implementation of the new regulations will be subject to a trial period of 2 years. We will count it from the day the driver collected the document. Why are future drivers so concerned about this? Mainly because if 3 traffic offenses or 1 traffic offense are committed during this time, the starosta will have the opportunity to withdraw the license. 2 driving offenses mean that the probation period will be extended by another 2 years.
New drivers will be required to take a mandatory, paid refresher course between 4-8 months from the date of receiving their driving license. It will be in the form of theoretical classes, and the topics will in particular concern road safety and the factors that limit it. Additionally, course participants will participate in practical classes.
Limits, bans and orders for young drivers
After receiving a driving license, a young driver will be under increased supervision for a period of 8 months and must be prepared for more stringent speed limits. In built-up areas, it will not be possible to move at a speed higher than 50 km/h, and outside built-up areas - 80 km/h. It will not drive faster than 100 km/h on highways and expressways.
Drivers must mark their car with a green maple leaf on the front and rear - a distinctive symbol for novice drivers. This applies to drivers who are on probation for the first 8 months. He is not released from this obligation even if he travels on the road in a car that is not his own.
Moreover, the driver cannot take up paid work as a professional driver for the first 8 months. They cannot independently run a business that requires driving a category B vehicle. This means that young people, after receiving a driving license, will not earn extra money as a pizza delivery person or courier, as was the case earlier and is still the case. but we know for how long.
ATTENTION! Road pirates will also be required to complete a 2-year probation period as a form of education. This applies to drivers whose driving license has been revoked due to exceeding the penalty point limits. This is intended to reduce the number of hasty drivers and thus increase safety on Polish roads.
