Dreams about four wheels come true Just three decades ago in Poland it was much easier...
Go to the museum for a long weekend

This year, May started with a longer weekend than usual, and June also has something to offer in this respect. For some of us, it will be four days off, and the weather will encourage us to leave the house. Or maybe combine them thematically with the automotive industry, after all, this is a blog about us and our cars. Here are some of my tips :)
For future generations of drivers
Next Thursday is a (movable) church holiday, which is a statutory day off from work. The next day, as on June XNUMX, children celebrate their holiday. So let's think about them. After all, many boys, and even girls, start their adventure with motoring with a miniature car model. I remember that my first car was red, two-door, without a roof (now I know it was a convertible). Today, there are countless such cars in stores, from plastic ones, through typical springs, to remotely controlled ones. Such a gift will be the perfect excuse for active recreation in the fresh air. Good fun is guaranteed, and at the same time you can learn how to drive off-road, maneuver and park. Oh, it won't be that easy.

One more idea comes to mind for families with children (or let's become them for this time). Toy museum! There are several such places in Poland, the largest collection can be found in... Kielce. The exhibits include miniatures of cars, which will also serve as "teaching aids" for history lessons. In this case, when I look at some models that have been worn down by time, I don't think about restoring their perfect appearance, but I remember my childhood with nostalgia.

Back to the past
The toy museum is not the only place where we can go back in time. And what's more, now it will be on a 1:1 scale. These fantastic "garages" are the increasingly numerous exhibitions of vintage cars. At the same time, we can plan a sightseeing trip around our country. Each of us will have a different starting point, so I am arranging the list of museums that are interesting - in my opinion - alphabetically - Białystok (Museum on Węglowa Street), Chlewiska (Museum of Metallurgy and Machinery Industry in Chlewiska), Gdynia (Automotive Museum), Otrębusy (Museum of Automotive and Machinery Industry in Chlewiska). Technology), Topacz (Automotive Museum in... the castle) and Zabrze (Museum of Historic Vehicles in the mine). We have to forget about the Warsaw museum in the Palace of Culture and Science for some time. After changing its name to the National Museum of Technology, it is currently under renovation. There are also several private – and very impressive – collections that are unfortunately not publicly available.

Museums and exhibitions devoted to the development of road engineering in Poland are a great complement. Szczucin is undoubtedly the leader in this matter. The exhibition there is only available on weekdays, but this time it will also be open on weekends. In the museum you can see, among others, the surfaces of old roads - reinforced with fascine, round logs, wooden logs and crushed stone, wooden pavements, basalt cubes and trilineks. In addition, there are numerous machines and devices used to build roads over the past centuries. Having visited this exhibition several times, I always admire the engineers of that time for their ideas and plans, and the builders for their great effort in implementing them. Today, building a network of highways and expressways seems to be a trivial task.

Youngtimers, oldtimers and running classics
Okay, we've seen the parked vehicles, now why not see them in motion! And at the same time listen to the sound of "real" engines and smell high-octane exhaust gases. This weekend there will be many rallies and rallies for vintage cars. It's best to look for them through Uncle Google. I managed to attend rallies of Fiat 126p in Wodzisław, Volkswagen Transporter in Pęczewo and Mercedes classics in Lublin. Moto-Retro in Białystok promises to be an interesting rallies (those from the above-mentioned museum).

There is one more thing that attracts attention at such meetings. It is a marketplace for parts and all kinds of accessories from older cars. This may also be a good start to our new passion, e.g. collecting company emblems. However, I warn you in advance that this will be an expensive hobby. If only because we will be looking for further specimens in various corners of the country, Europe and continents. Ha, we now have an excuse to plan more moto – travel. I'm also eagerly waiting for your suggestions!
