Fall and winter are the times when mud, water, leaves and snow residues “get into” the car along with the passengers. There are several solutions that allow you to avoid dirt accumulating on the mats and plastics in the car. What can you do to clean your car less often in the fall and winter season?

Dirty Car? Rubber Car Mats Will Come in Handy

Dirty car

Dirt in a car accumulates primarily on the floor. If you have fabric mats in your car, consider replacing them with rubber mats. Why are rubber mats better than fabric mats? These products are easier to keep clean. Just take them out for a moment at the car wash, pour some soapy water on them, rinse and dry to get rid of all the mud.

For example, it will work perfectly in every car. Set of 4 Black Car Mats My Auto Virage. They have higher edges and ribs that collect dirt inside, preventing it from transferring to the car floor.

The next problem is dirty upholstery in the car, which can occur all year round. Regardless of whether you are transporting animals, children or it is raining and mud is forming everywhere, opt for special seat protection. They are applied to the entire seats and backrests, usually using Velcro and rubber bands. Some products of this type are waterproof, and if they get dirty, just take them out of the car and rinse them.

Car air dryers

Primarily dirty car is one in which mud, plant remains and other rubbish brought in from the yard accumulate. They often create a wet mixture that stays on the mats for a long time. Over time, it begins to evaporate and the moisture penetrates the upholstery, promoting the development of mold and fungi. For this reason, if you do not have time to clean your car frequently in the fall and winter season, invest in a car air dehumidifier.

Why is it worth getting an air dryer? Such a device will allow you to reduce the humidity level in the car and protect material elements from damage. Dehumidifiers also have a positive effect on the smell in the vehicle. They will not replace regular cleaning, but they will minimize the negative effects of water remaining on the mats.

What else is worth doing? First of all, air out your car. After reaching your destination, it's worth leaving the doors open to air out the car.

Good practices to keep your car's interior clean

Dirty interior of the car

Want to have a clean car in the fall and winter seasons? Make sure your passengers follow these rules:

  • dusting off your shoes before getting into the car – especially if there is mud or snow on them (you can also use a brush for this purpose);
  • not storing dirty and wet items loosely – e.g. wet jackets. If you have to transport such items, place them in bags (a regular plastic bag will do);
  • closing the door quickly when it rains or snows – to prevent water from falling into the interior and onto the upholstery,
  • proper storage of umbrellas – similarly to jackets, it is better to put them in a bag rather than on the rug.

It is also worth setting aside a specific place for any rubbish so that it does not spread throughout the car. Car plastics can also be covered with special coatings that make it easier to clean them from mud.
