A clean car interior makes driving more enjoyable. However, we do not always keep the interior in the condition we would like it to be. We cannot influence everything, e.g. the weather. When it rains or snows, there are also signs of these seasons in your car. Water accumulates on rugs, well... rugs. They are partially responsible for the cleanliness of the car. The variants available on the market are rubber mats and textile mats. It is not without reason that we have two types of them, each with a different purpose. But when to choose which one?

Rubber or textile mats – From the article you will learn:

  • Which rugs should you choose for rain and which for sun?
  • Which are characterized by a more aesthetic appearance
  • Are both variants equally durable?

  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of textile rugs?

For (un)weather

You dress according to the weather and conditions outside. Dress up your car in a similar way. Replace them along with seasonal tires. In the summer, we are bothered by ubiquitous dust in the car and it is relatively dry. That's why they work well textile rugs. If there is excess moisture, it is better to opt for rubber mats. They dominate in the autumn and winter. In spring, you can choose a "hybrid" option, i.e. a combination of these two variants. My Auto offer includes: set of car mats with textile insert.

Aesthetic appearance

It must be admitted that they look much better aesthetically textile rugs. They are trimmed with thread or piping, sometimes giving an interesting finish. They are available in various colors, which allows them to perfectly match the interior of the car. In this way, they create a harmonious whole with the upholstery. In the case of rubber mats, I usually choose between black, gray and graphite. We value them for their practical use and high functionality. However, they are less representative than velvet rugs. Although they come in, for example, light beige.

Durability and service life

Rubber mats or textile ones, which are more resistant to external factors and will last longer? It depends on their quality and method of use. Textile ones are made of velvet of various weights. Rubber mixtures of various compositions are used for rubber production. Therefore, it is impossible to determine which ones have a longer lifespan. They definitely need to be replaced when we notice that they are heavily dirty and damaged. The effects of use are most noticeable on the driver's mat.

Rubber mats – benefits

They do not allow moisture to pass through and will be appreciated by practical people. They are made of a high-quality rubber mixture and are long-lasting and durable. They do not absorb water, which is why we use them mainly in winter and autumn. They are easy to clean, just rinse with water, even in a touchless car wash. There are easy-to-fit versions, such as: Set of BLACK Rugs My Auto Virage cars, which can be cut to any length with scissors. Other Moje Auto Virage car mat sets have similar features. They differ only in pattern, shape and color.

What about the disadvantages?

As we have already mentioned, rubber mats they don't look particularly attractive. You can't count on a wide range of colors and impressive finishes and patterns. The poor quality mixtures used cause the rugs to emit a specific odor. So always pay attention to the composition of the apartment. This determines not only the durability and lifespan of the rugs, but also the possible smell. It probably shouldn't be in the car.

Textile rugs –benefits

If you value the elegant and aesthetic appearance of your car's interior, this is a better choice textile rugs. Although black and gray are the most popular, there is a wide range of colors to choose from. They do not heat up, unlike rubber, so they will be a great option for the summer. You will quickly remove dust and dirt from them. You can vacuum the rugs, wipe them with a damp cloth or wash them with a carpet cleaning liquid. Choosing mats in an interesting, original color will effectively enliven the interior of your car. However, most people value universality and timelessness.

They also have disadvantages

Fabric rugs tend to soak up water quickly. They need to be cleaned and dried as quickly as possible. Otherwise, we will feel an unpleasant odor. They certainly cannot be classified as universal products. If you want to avoid more dirt in the summer with textile rugs, choose a rubber-textile model. Customers are choosing this variant more and more often. These are all-season mats, so you don't have to change them when you change summer and winter wheels.

We buy car mats

Regardless of whether you chose rubber or textile ones, they must be of good quality. Pay attention to what they are made of and how they are finished. Their fit is no less important - they should not stick out anywhere and should not bend. Textile rugs and rubber ones come in many patterns, sizes and colors, they can be easily matched to the interior. Remember to clean them regularly, do not wait to get dirty, remove them immediately. This way you will avoid permanent contamination. You probably want them to last as long as possible...
